Los Angeles election officials disqualified two more candidates Wednesday in the race to succeed City Councilman Ernani Bernardi, cutting the final field to seven from the original dozen.

Jose Galvan, a city librarian, and Sandra L. Hubbard, a publisher, both fell short of a city requirement to submit at least 500 signatures of registered voters, city elections chief Kristin Heffron said.

Galvan was 132 signatures short and Hubbard was 219 shy, Heffron said. Their names will not appear on the April 20 ballot in the council’s 7th District.

Lyle Hall; Sylmar attorney Raymond J. Magana, and Henry R. Villafana, an elementary school teacher.
