Plans for the new Continental Indoor Soccer League were unveiled at the Forum, with the announcement of an 11-team summer league to begin June 17. The 11 charter teams are based in Los Angeles, Anaheim, Charlotte, Dallas, Las Vegas, Monterrey, Mexico, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, Ore., Sacramento and San Diego. The teams in Charlotte, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh won’t begin play until June of 1994.
The 28-game season will end on Sept. 12. The L.A. franchise will play at the Forum; the Anaheim team is close to signing an agreement to play in the new Anaheim Arena.
