William Ivers, 62, who represented Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge in the Assembly from 1978 to 1982 and later served as director of the state Department of Boating and Waterways. A native of Los Angeles, Ivers attended Loyola University and served as an Air Force intelligence officer.
