Shooting at Reseda High

What is the difference between a public school and a penal institution? Unfortunately the difference is becoming narrower and narrower. When two promising Los Angeles young people’s lives are snuffed out at the prime of life; when schools must choose between metal detectors and badly needed textbooks and school supplies; when what should be open campuses are forced to become fortresses, is it any wonder that few want to enter the field of education?

The problems are financial, social and moral, a carry-over of society’s problems today. It is up to parents, administrators and students alike to make education what it is supposed to be--a safe haven for growth and learning.
