Colorado Homeowner Takes Back Lion’s Share

Larry Goodman opened his window on Wednesday expecting to enjoy a mountain view, instead he found a mountain lion.

The 130-pound cat had picked a spot near Goodman’s house for its lair. Goodman called authorities, and two dozen law enforcement officers and wildlife agents responded.

“It’s just sitting there kind of content,” Goodman said. “I don’t know if it’s male or female, and I’m not going to check.”

Authorities shot the lion, which was a male, with two tranquilizer darts and moved it to a less-populated area.

Wildlife area supervisor Jim Jones said it is not uncommon for mountain lions to wander into housing developments near the foothills outside of Denver.

“I would imagine he came in during the night hunting game or raccoons and wound up in here,” Jones said.
