Child of Slain Woman Is Returned
A 4-year-old boy snatched from his mother’s arms by his father--who then turned around and killed the boy’s mother--was mysteriously returned to his grandmother’s home in Coachella on Wednesday, San Bernardino County authorities said.
The slaying occurred in a hospital parking lot in Loma Linda on Valentine’s Day.
Officers are still looking for Juan Manuel Navarro, the boyfriend of Ignacia Manriguez, 29, and the boy’s father. They contend that he shot Manriguez to death and then disappeared with Juan Jr.
About the boy’s return, Jim Bryant, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said: “The doorbell rang, and when the people inside answered it, there was the little boy standing there alone. Witnesses tell us that the man who left him there was not his father.”
