COMPTON : Youth, 17, Fatally Shot at Fast-Food Restaurant
A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot by a suspected gang member at a McDonald’s restaurant near Compton on Thursday as horrified patrons looked on, authorities said.
The youth, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was attacked at 11:45 a.m., moments after walking into the fast-food restaurant in the 1100 block of East Rosecrans Avenue, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Rich Erickson.
Erickson said three suspected gang members had been in the restaurant for about 20 minutes when the victim arrived. As they stood talking near an exit, he said, one pulled a handgun and fired on the teen-ager several times before fleeing.
It was not known what may have prompted the attack.
