Baldwin Park : Council to Thank Clinton
The City Council voted Wednesday to send a letter of thanks to President Clinton and to draft a resolution of support for his budget proposal.
City Manager Donald Penman estimated that Baldwin Park could receive $914,000 if Clinton’s economic stimulus package wins approval from Congress.
The money would come as a one-time addition to the city’s Community Development Block Grant funding, Penman said, and could be used to improve storm drains, expand parks, install landscaping and improve streets.
Penman said the city would also be in line for funding of summer jobs for youth, low-income housing development and highway and transit programs.
“This (resolution) would be a way of urging Congress to expeditiously pass the budget proposal,” Mayor Fidel A. Vargas said.
