Wyoming Coach Benny Dees, who in six years took the Cowboys to the NCAA tournament and the NIT once each but struggled to endear himself to the fans, resigned to take over the Western Carolina program.
Dees made his announcement two days before the start of the Western Athletic Conference tournament. He will coach the Cowboys through the tournament, then will take over the Western Carolina program April 1.
