Beatrice Behan; Artist, Widow of Playwright Brendan Behan

Beatrice Behan, 69, an artist and the widow and biographer of playwright Brendan Behan. She studied painting in Italy, and many of her works were exhibited in Dublin. She also wrote “My Life With Brendan Behan,” a book about her marriage to the boisterous playwright. Behan, whose work has been compared to that of George Bernard Shaw and Sean O’Casey, was known for his unpredictable behavior and frequent appearances in court on charges of drunkenness. He died in 1964. In Dublin on Wednesday of undetermined causes.
