Mercury Tribute: Rocker Billy Squier is hoping to spearhead another multi-star fund-raising project--a benefit for the Mercury Phoenix Trust, established shortly after Queen frontman Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991. Squier has written a bittersweet ballad, called “I Have Watched You Fly,” about Mercury and hopes to recruit other musicians to the project. In addition, Squier would like to produce a related short film or video, incorporating highlights from the careers of Mercury, Arthur Ashe and Magic Johnson, to be used as a network public service announcement. As a first step, Squier has been talking with Queen guitarist Brian May about the project.
