Mission Viejo Offers Cash Prizes in Photo Contest
Cash prizes will be offered by City Hall for the best depiction of the city on film.
The first Mission Viejo photo contest will award $750 for the photograph that best captures the theme “It’s Nice to Have Mission Viejo Around You.”
Entries may be submitted to the city clerk’s office through Dec. 31. Second- and third-place money will also be awarded.
City officials plan to use the best photographs in a marketing brochure to attract new business to the city.
“Mission Viejo has many talented and competitive people who enjoy photography as a hobby and several talented professionals live in the city,” said City Manager Fred Sorsabal. “Rather than pay one photographer to take pictures on a single day, we may have hundreds of photographers taking pictures all year as they compete to win the prizes.”
There are no limits to the number of times a contestant may enter the competition. The city requires that negatives be submitted with the entries and that all rights to use the pictures is granted.
A panel of judges will select the best photographs and announce the winners by Jan. 31, 1994.
