Countywide : Woman Admits Welfare Fraud
A woman who helped her sister collect Ventura County welfare payments while living in Cancun, Mexico, pleaded guilty to committing felony welfare fraud, the district attorney’s office said Tuesday.
Monica Sacramento allowed Ileana Elizabeth Lizama to use her Ojai address, signed the monthly reporting forms and forwarded nearly $9,000 in welfare money to Lizama in Cancun while keeping the food stamps for herself, the district attorney said.
Sacramento, who was arrested Feb. 26, is in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced April 13.
