SIMI VALLEY : Volunteers Sought to Clean Up Trail

Share

Volunteers are needed Saturday to help clean the Hummingbird Creek Trail in Simi Valley, on land recently acquired from a housing developer by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.

Those willing to help can show up at 8:30 a.m. with gloves, rakes, shovels and drinking water at the trail east of Kuehner Drive just north of the Simi Valley Freeway, said volunteer program coordinator Sharon Sea Hamilton.

Officials want to clear trash from the 71-acre park property to prepare for the cutting next month of a four-foot-wide quarter-mile trail from Kuehner Drive to the top of the creek, Hamilton said.

The land was deeded to the district by the developer of Paragon Homes, a 14-acre, 24-unit housing subdivision approved for construction nearby. The city required the dedication because the land is considered environmentally sensitive.
