Carlos Gonzalez of Mexico City will defend his World Boxing Organization junior welterweight title against former world-ranked contender Tony Baltazar of La Puente at 7:30 Monday night at the Forum.

Gonzalez is 36-0 with 33 knockouts and Baltazar is 37-5-1 with 20 KOs. The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds.

The Tri-Park Little League of Lawndale will be awarded a $5,000 grant from the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles during a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mark Twain Elementary School baseball field in Lawndale.

Funds will be used to purchase new equipment and uniforms for the league, which is for boys and girls age 5-18.

More than 300 gymnasts from Southern California will compete in the 1993 state championships for boys and men age 7 to 20 on Saturday and Sunday at Hawthorne High, 4859 W. El Segundo Blvd., Hawthorne.

The meet is sponsored by Broadway Gymnastics of Santa Monica and sanctioned by the United States Gymnastics Federation.

Registration is under way for the Manhattan Beach Recreation Department’s 1993 16-inch slow-pitch softball leagues that start in May in Manhattan Beach.

The cost is $385 a team, including a $50 refundable forfeit fee.

Managers of men’s teams will have an organizational meeting at 7:30 p.m. April 7 at Joslyn Center, 1601 Valley Drive, in Manhattan Beach. Women’s managers will meet at 7:30 p.m. April 8 at the center.

The South Bay Keiro Club will be among the organizations that will benefit from the fifth annual Infinity invitational golf tournament at 1 p.m. April 15 at the California Country Club in Whittier.

The event is conducted by the Gardena-based Infinity Charities Foundation.

The cost is $115, including green fees, refreshments and dinner. Tickets for the dinner only are $22.
