Eddie Hill, John Force and Warren Johnson claimed victories at the rain-plagued finals of the 24th annual Motorcraft Gatornationals at Gainesville, Fla. Hill took his second victory of the season when he defeated Ed McCulloch for the top-fuel title. Hill covered the quarter-mile distance in 4.879 seconds at 286.07 m.p.h.

Hill has seven lifetime victories and has been to the finals in seven of the last 11 NHRA Winston drag racing series events. Force, of Yorba Linda, took his third victory of the year when he defeated Al Hofmann in the funny-car final.

Johnson won the pro-stock title, his second victory of 1993.
