Fighting for Access: Courtroom Television Network (Court TV) has established Citizens for Court TV, a grass-roots organization that will work to improve television camera access to courtrooms nationwide. “Although 47 states allow cameras in their courtrooms, only about half do so without serious restrictions,” says Steve Brill, president and CEO of Court TV. “This is not too surprising, considering that the public has rarely been included in legislative decisions on whether or not cameras should be allowed.” The group plans to encourage key constituencies to contact state legislators in an effort to open up courtrooms.
