‘Dateline’ on the Mend: New “Dateline NBC” executive producer Neal Shapiro received resounding applause after finishing his first full staff meeting Wednesday. Shapiro has headed the show for just over a week, coming from ABC’s “PrimeTime Live” to clean up after the rigged GM truck-explosion debacle. “I was talking to people who had been through that awful experience,” Shapiro said, “and it was about rededicating themselves. I told them things I would like to do. . . . I said we are going to make the show a little less predictable . . . (and) take chances.”
