JAMESTOWN, Calif. — A man charged with molesting five boys at a mountain church camp was shot to death at his preliminary hearing Friday by the mother of one of his alleged victims, authorities said.
Ellie Nessler was being led to the witness stand to testify in the case against Daniel Driver, 35, when she pulled out a handgun and opened fire, said Tuolumne County Assistant Sheriff Mike Costa.
Driver, who was standing at the defense table, was hit in the back of the head at least once, Costa said.
