A 37-year-old Diamond Bar man who was stabbed during a fight that began in an alley died shortly afterward in a hospital on Friday, police said.

A friend who was with Kenny K. Gullon drove him to Western Medical Center-Anaheim, where he died shortly after midnight, police said. Doctors then called police, who went to the hospital to interview Gullon’s friend.

Investigators lacked information about the fight, which apparently began before midnight in an alley and spilled into the street near East Orangewood Avenue and South Haster Street, Sgt. Steve Rodig said.

Rodig said Gullon and his friend, whom police declined to identify, had driven to the area. It was unclear how long they were there before the fight or what caused the fight, police said.

Residents reported hearing gunfire, but police do not know if anybody was shot, Rodig said. Investigators were “looking into the possibility that gang members were involved in the assault,” Rodig said.

No arrests have been made.
