New Faces: Spanish-language station KMEX-TV has reorganized its news department in response to recent shake-ups, including last week’s appointment of Miguel Banojian as news director to replace Sandra Thomas Esquivel. Led by KMEX veteran anchor Eduardo Quezada, the new lineup includes Andrea Kutyas, a former correspondent and weekend anchor for Univision, of which KMEX is an affiliate, as co-anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts; Jesus Javier, former anchor at rival KVEA-TV, as anchor of the 11 p.m. “Edicion Nocturna”; and popular radio and TV personality Pepe Barreto as the station’s community reporter. Cristina Aceves will continue hosting the morning talk show “Los Angeles al Dia” and public affairs show “Tribuna Publica.” Meanwhile, KMEX former evening co-anchor Teresa Quevedo has been named news anchor for KVEA, where Univision’s Susana Quintero-Chamberlain has been made news producer.
