From Staff and Wire Reports
The Ottawa Senators are threatening some players with demotion to the minors if they don’t amend their contracts, the Ottawa Citizen reported.
At least three players have been asked to accept contract changes, the newspaper says. Two of the players, forwards Darcy Loewen and Andrew McBain, reluctantly agreed when threatened with demotion to the Senators’ New Haven farm club. A third, center Jamie Baker, refused to accept a contract change. However, he is the team’s second-leading scorer and couldn’t be demoted without clearing waivers.
