Ford Chairman Got $5.38 Million in ‘92: The auto maker said the compensation package it gave Harold Poling last year included a slight increase in salary and more stock options than in 1991. Poling, who will retire late this year, received $1,066,667 in salary, $116,801 in stock dividends and other compensation, $1.38 million in stock awards and stock options worth $1.8 million. He is allowed to buy the shares at $37 apiece over the next four years. Based on Thursday’s Ford Motor Co. stock price of $54.75 a share, the award would be worth $2.8 million, boosting the value of the 1992 compensation package to $5.38 million. Despite losing a record $7.4 billion in 1992, Ford’s common stock increased in value by nearly 55% last year.
