TWA’s Auditor Says Airline’s Future in Doubt: Trans World Airlines’ ability to continue operating is in “substantial doubt,” the company’s auditor said in a document submitted to the SEC. Accountants at KPMG Peat Marwick said if TWA doesn’t draw enough cash from passengers, its heavy debt limits the amount of money it can borrow. A TWA spokesman told Aviation Daily, a trade newsletter, that the language is standard for a company trying to complete a Chapter 11 reorganization and was in last year’s auditor report as well. TWA officials could not immediately be reached on Good Friday.
