NORTHRIDGE : ‘Alternative Classes’ to Follow Verdicts

Share

Cal State Northridge will hold two days of “alternative classes” after the announcement of verdicts in the civil rights trial of four Los Angeles police officers accused in the Rodney King beating, campus officials said Friday.

Professors at the campus are being encouraged to allow students to attend two days of planned speeches on topics such as race relations rather than requiring them to attend regular classes.

“On rare occasions, public events are of such significance to our lives and our community that they merit considered analysis and reflection within the university,” CSUN President Blenda J. Wilson said in a campus bulletin.

Students will also have a chance to speak at the event, which will include poetry and entertainment.
