Who better than Brooooce to take advantage of MTV’s “Unplugged” intimacy, where artists can dress down and reveal entirely unexpected or previously unseen sides of themselves? Would that were the case. Instead of a spontaneous and revealing performance, Springsteen--once the master of spontaneous, revealing performances--cops out and gives mostly the same highly rehearsed, neatly manicured electric band show he took to arenas around the world last year. The only risk taken is in the emphasis on recent material. Cross your fingers that Bruce and crew will soon return for a truly “Un”-show.
