OXNARD : Harbor Festival Starts Friday Night
The Channel Islands Harbor Food and Wine Festival will kick off a three-day celebration of food and entertainment Friday night at the Oxnard harbor.
The event will take place at 2950 S. Harbor Blvd., where 16 area restaurants will offer up to three international items for $1 to $5. Wine as well as soft drinks, beer, margaritas and other beverages will be available.
The jazz group Raw Silk will play at 5 p.m. Friday and all food and beverages will be discounted $1. Other music groups--including country, Big Band, salsa, oldies, jazz and pop--will be provided throughout the weekend.
The Great American Express Waiter/Waitress Race is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. Other activities include ice sculpting demonstrations, caricature artists, face painting and events for children.
Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for military and seniors, and $1 for children 2 to 12. Participating businesses are giving away coupons for $2 off the price of admission. All those with birthdays in April will be admitted free.
Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
