THEY’RE HOW SMART? Huntington Beach Union High School District trustees agreed this week to use police dogs to sniff for drugs in the parking lots of its seven schools. But only after making it clear they wanted no discrimination: Teachers’ cars must be checked the same as students’. No problem, police officials delicately explained: Keen as they are, the dogs aren’t smart enough to know which car belongs to whom. . . . In another two weeks, four trained dogs will begin working the parking lots and locker areas on a trial basis.
