Laguna Beach Surfer Loses in Quarterfinal
Todd Holland of Cocoa Beach, Fla., won the Coke Classic surfing contest Sunday at North Narrabeen, Australia.
Holland beat Australia’s Matt Holy, 26 to 25.9, in the finals of the Assn. of Surfing Professionals’ world championship tour event.
Laguna Beach’s Jeff Booth was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Australia’s Barton Lynch. Losing in the second round were Newport Beach’s Richie Collins, Seal Beach’s Marty Thomas, San Clemente’s Dino Andino and defending world champion Kelly Slater of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
