Two new action-adventure series, a new comedy and a newsmagazine highlight NBC’s summer schedule, the network said Wednesday.

One of the action-adventure series, “South Beach,” is set in the glamorous South Beach section of Miami and stars Yancy Butler as a beautiful con artist who reluctantly accepts the task of working as an undercover government operative. The show will have a two-hour preview June 6 at 9 p.m. before settling into its regular 9 p.m. time slot on Tuesday, June 8, for a six-episode run.

The other entry in the action genre, “Route 66,” stars James Wilder and Dan Cortese as two buddies barreling down the same road as its namesake in search of adventure. The show, a revival of the 1960s series “Route 66,” will begin its four-episode run on June 8 at 8 p.m.

The newsmagazine “NBC Prime Story” will premiere June 23 at 9 p.m. with co-anchors Faith Daniels, Mike Schneider and Fred Francis.

In addition, NBC’s newsmagazine “Dateline NBC” will feature original editions throughout the summer on Tuesdays at 10 p.m.
