The Region : Valley Bus Service Extended

Share

Foothill Transit has extended routes and hours of service for nine bus lines.

The expanded service includes new routes to two cities--Whittier and Montebello--and more express lines to downtown Los Angeles. The change will add 32,000 hours of bus service annually, said Joyce Baner, Foothill Transit public information officer.

The expansion will affect lines 179, 185, 187, 274, 276, 280, 486, 492, and 494. The new service is an effort to better meet the needs of the changing population base of those using the transit system, Baner said.

“We’ve had requests from the passengers and the individual cities we serve,” she said. “We are very responsive and very flexible and passenger-driven. . . . We’ve looked at where the passengers are and where they need to go and the areas that didn’t have services.”
