COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Advance in Big West Tennis
Roseann Alva defeated Farrah Tierney, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 1 singles to help Cal State Fullerton to a 5-1 victory over Cal State Long Beach in the qualifying round of the Big West women’s tennis championships Wednesday in Ojai.
The Titans advanced to play defending champion UC Santa Barbara today in the second round.
UC Irvine, seeded fifth, will play fourth-seeded Hawaii.

In nonconference baseball:
Southern California College 7, Redlands 2--Ted Wieczorek hit a two-run home run in the first inning for the host Vanguards (23-17), who also scored twice in the third and fourth innings. Wieczorek had two hits and three RBIs and Al Contrera had two hits and an RBI.

In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
CS Northridge 3, UC Irvine 0--Coley Kyman had 16 kills and Ken Lynch had 12 to help host Northridge (18-9, 12-6), which won 15-13, 15-4, 15-13. Chad Milling had 14 kills and four blocks and Alex Huang had nine kills and nine blocks for the Anteaters (2-20, 1-18).
