Paying for Trees
This letter is in reference to “County May Pay for Trees in Road’s Path” (April 13) regarding reimbursing the Irvine Co. for the fruit trees that are to be cut to make way for the Foothill (tollway).
It is my understanding that the property is not accessible at this time. Therefore, after the freeway is in, access will be given, allowing for future development.
Since it is quite apparent that the Irvine Co. will profit from the future development, it is incomprehensible to me that the Irvine Co. should be subsidized by the taxpayers.
