Sheriff’s investigators are seeking help from the public in solving vandalism and burglaries at three Moorpark homes while the occupants were on vacation, authorities said.
A $1,000 reward has been offered by Ventura County Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of and charges filed against those responsible for the April 18 burglaries, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kitty Hoberg.
Intruders kicked front doors open and stole jewelry, cash and a small safe, she said. The thieves also took a 1984 Mazda pickup truck from one of the garages.
Besides the thefts, the burglars caused extensive damage to the interiors, knocking holes in walls, dashing computer equipment and shattering glass tables, vases and lamps, Hoberg said.
Hoberg said investigators hope to identify two young men seen in a Porsche parked outside two of the residences. The pair was described as 20-year-old Anglos with short hair. One wore a white cap and a brightly colored, baggy pair of shorts.
To report tips, call Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK, 987-TALK or 986-TALK. For more information, call Hoberg at 494-8218 or Detective David Lea at 494-8220.
