THE ARTS
Inaugural Season: Multidisciplinary presentations by Bay Area artists along with their international peers will highlight the inaugural 1993-94 season at San Francisco’s new Yerba Buena Gardens Center for the Arts. The lineup, announced Tuesday, features dance, theater, music, visual arts, film and video programs including an opening week celebration with Caribbean music, free admission to the galleries (designed by 1993 Pritzker Prize winner Fumihiko Maki), a celebration of rhythm and dance, and a two-day community open house with performances by more than 200 local artists. The new visual and performing arts complex opens Oct. 12.
