Peltason to Be Honored: University of California President Jack W. Peltason, who was chancellor of the UC Irvine campus before his elevation last year, will be presented the 1993 Sumigarden Award next month at the annual UC Irvine Real Estate Conference.

The award recognizes Peltason’s contributions to Orange County’s real estate community through his drive to expand the Irvine campus.

During his tenure there, from 1984 until October, 1992, he oversaw $350 million worth of construction on the campus. Peltason’s plans also included the $150-million UCI Corporate Park, still in its infancy, that ultimately will include 300 condominiums and 650,000 square feet of retail and office space, as well as commercial research and development facilities.
