Bad Check but Good Likeness of Harley Thief

Share

A man who reportedly bought a new Harley-Davidson with a bogus cashier’s check gave police some unexpected help: He agreed to pose for a picture in front of the store with his new motorcycle before driving it away.

The photo, taken by a salesman, is now being circulated by police.

The man, who identified himself as “William R. Brown,” bought the Harley on April 17 with a check for $15,045.

When the store owner tried to deposit it, he learned that it was counterfeit.

The motorcycle is black with red pin stripes and has leather saddlebags. The vehicle identification number, which is engraved on the front portion of the motorcycle frame, is 1HO1EML38PY114731.

The man is described as 40 to 45 years old, 6-foot-2, about 190 pounds, with receding brown curly hair which is graying at the temples.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6880.
