Reseda Man Dies After Gang Attack
A 20-year-old Reseda man died Saturday after he was shot and stabbed in a gang-related killing, authorities said.
Isidro Barajas Jr., a suspected gang member, was shot once in the head after he and a group of young men yelled rival gang names at each other as Barajas drove north along the 6600 block of Darby Avenue about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Los Angeles Police Detective Rick Swanston said.
Barajas crashed his car into two vehicles parked along the street, and his 16-year-old companion, whose name was not released, escaped on foot, Swanston said. Their attackers--about 10 to 15 young men--then pelted the car with rocks and leaned into the car and stabbed Barajas several times in the upper body.
The assailants fled in a dark colored minivan before officers arrived, and Barajas’ friend, a Van Nuys youth, was found unharmed a few blocks from the scene of the attack, police said. Barajas was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he died about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
