SCHOOL YEAR DEBATE: Parents of children in public schools in the Valley support a return to the traditional school year schedule, according to a new Times Poll (above). . . . Support is also strong among all poll respondents--not just parents--with 64% saying they prefer the traditional September-to-June school year. Results of the poll, in which nearly 1,000 Valley residents were surveyed April 24-25, come on the eve of a Monday meeting of the Los Angeles Board of Education, which will consider junking the year-round calendar. That schedule includes two long breaks in winter and summer.
