Defeat of Prop. 1
The City Council and mayor have systematically reduced the police budget from 20.6% (1977-78) to 13.9% (1992-93) of the Los Angeles city budget. Though I supported Prop. M last year I did not support Prop. 1 because I don’t trust the politicians to prioritize their spending in the direction this taxpayer desires.
When the misallocated 6.7% is restored to the Police Department’s share of the city budget, I would be open to requests for any tax that would improve our city.
