For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* Use a good vegetable fertilizer on tomatoes, peppers and eggplants for early crops and thick foliage to prevent sunburned fruit.

* Apply three inches of mulch around camellias and azaleas to reduce summer stress and bud drop. Keep mulch away from trunk of plant or you may suffocate it, or contribute to rotting diseases.

* Feed azaleas and camellias.
