WESTMINSTER : School Boundaries Topic of Hearing

Share

The Westminster School District will hold a public hearing Thursday to consider changing the boundaries of two elementary schools.

The district staff has proposed a plan under which students would be assigned to H.B. Anderson and Hayden Elementary schools based on their home addresses.

Students who now live in the 15th Street apartment area are randomly assigned to Midway City and Anderson elementary schools, based on available space. Next year, Midway City will be closed and its students will attend the newly renovated Hayden campus. District spokeswoman Audrey Brown said that about 70 students would be affected by the change.

If approved by the Board of Trustees, the new plan would place students with a Westminster Boulevard or Newland Street address at Anderson. Students with a 15th Street address would attend Hayden. The new boundaries would be simpler for residents to understand and also improve the district’s ability to forecast enrollment and aid in planning, Brown said.

The board will consider the plan during a 7:30 p.m. hearing Thursday at the district boardroom, 14121 Cedarwood Ave.
