National Merit Scholarship Winners Named

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. has announced the names of high school seniors who have been chosen to receive $2,000 National Merit Scholarships.
Recipients of the scholarships were chosen by a committee of college admissions officers and secondary school counselors. The selection process is based on the student’s academic record, his or her significant contributions to the school and community, and the recommendation of the student’s school principal.
These are the students from the San Gabriel Valley who have been awarded scholarships:

Gary Chen, Diamond Bar
Hoa M. Thai, Monterey Park
Peter A. Selkin, Pasadena
Sammy C. Lai, San Gabriel
Albert S. Lee, San Marino
Dennis C. Tong, San Marino
Leslie H. Lee, Sierra Madre
Leondra R. Kruger, South Pasadena
Kinh H. Tieu, Walnut
