Overnight Closures of Freeway Set; Detours Suggested

All lanes of the Santa Ana Freeway will be closed overnight for several days, Caltrans officials said.

Beginning Sunday, all southbound lanes of the freeway from The City Drive to Main Street will be closed nightly from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closures will continue through May 17. All lanes will be open on May 15, however.

The California Department of Transportation suggests that motorists exit the freeway at The City Drive, then take the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway to the southbound Costa Mesa Freeway, then to the southbound Santa Ana Freeway.

All northbound lanes of the Santa Ana Freeway will be closed at Main Street every night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning May 17 through May 25. Again, the exception will be Saturday. Drivers are advised to take Main Street to La Veta Avenue and turn right to the westbound Garden Grove Freeway, then to the northbound Santa Ana Freeway.
