Salvation Army Meets Fund Goal for Shelter

A $2-million grant from the Weingart Foundation of Los Angeles has put the Salvation Army over its $4.5-million fund-raising goal to build a new youth center and shelter in Hollywood.

The Army announced the gift during a gala fund-raiser last week honoring Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, longtime supporters of the organization. Evangelist Billy Graham was the keynote speaker.

An estimated $150,000 was raised at the dinner for the new youth center and shelter.
