BURBANK : Board of Education to Televise Meetings
The Burbank Board of Education is moving into the world of television, and may overhaul some of its routines to keep the ratings up.
“We need to rearrange our schedule for television,” board member Robert Dunivant said Thursday as the board decided to televise its meetings for the first time.
The board also decided to move its meetings from the administration offices on Buena Vista Street to the Burbank City Council Chambers on Olive Avenue, where meetings will be broadcast on Sammons Communications Channel 21.
The move would cost the district $3,000 a year for the television equipment, but save the $1,000 spent annually to keep the administration building open for board meetings.
The school board meets on the first and third Thursday of the month.
The date for the first broadcast of the board meetings has to be worked out with the city of Burbank, but it could be as early as next month, district officials said.
Board member Elena Hubbell said that the meeting agendas would have to be reorganized, perhaps by changing the time when the public can speak or by limiting presentations.
