Antrim Rd., a 26-1 longshot, led two other longshots into the money Saturday in winning the $500,000 Illinois Derby at Sportsman’s Park.

Seattle Morn, at 63-1, finished second, two lengths back, and Secret Negotiator, at 28-1, was third in the 1 1/8-mile event for 3-year-olds.

The favored Foxtrail was 12th in the 13-horse field. Devoted Brass was ninth.

Antrim Rd., ridden by Aaron Gryder, was timed in 1:48 3/5 and paid $55.40, $29.00 and $17.60. Seattle Morn returned $52.00 and $24.80. Secret Negotiator paid $12.80. A $2 trifecta on the three horses was worth $16,078.

Antrim Rd., a Kentucky-bred son of Fit To Fight, earned $300,000 for Alyce and Joseph Novogratz of Minneapolis.

Antrim Rd.’s only other stakes victory was in the Fort Springs at Keeneland last October. He finished second in his three previous starts in the Turfway Park Prevue, the Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay Downs and the Promised City at Oaklawn Park.

“We had hopes of running him in the Kentucky Derby, but he suffered a bruised foot, and that kind of changed matters,” trainer Glenn Wismer said.
