George Air Force Base
The dispute over George Air Force Base (“Rohrabacher Stirs Uproar in Desert,” May 4), which was closed last December by the Pentagon, makes me wonder why the press and the public don’t demand that the politicians use this space for the common good by allocating it and other closed bases for:
Shelters and job training facilities for the homeless.
Jails/prisons for the overcrowded facilities that are releasing prisoners early due to claims of no space.
