Hockney Tribute: Artist David Hockney, known for colorful depictions of his Southern California surroundings, has been chosen for the first Award of Achievement from the Archives of American Art’s West Coast Regional Center. The British-born Hockney, who has lived in Los Angeles since the early 1960s, will receive the award on Wednesday during “An Evening With David Hockney & Friends” at the Los Angeles Four Seasons Hotel. The event is a benefit for the Archives, a bureau of the Smithsonian Institution.
