POMONA : Crash in Stolen Car Kills Passenger; Youth Arrested
A 17-year-old Santa Ana boy was arrested in Pomona late Monday night on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after a stolen car he was driving collided with another vehicle and flipped over several times, killing one of his three passengers.
Sut Nay, 16, of Pomona, died early Tuesday from severe head and internal injuries at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, said Lt. Leon Sakamoto of the Pomona Police Department.
The suspect, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was driving a 1984 Toyota Cressida reported stolen in Long Beach. The Toyota rear-ended a Jeep Cherokee on the southbound Corona Expressway near Garey Avenue, Sakamoto said.
No one in the Jeep was injured, but the Toyota rolled several times, ejecting the driver and Nay. Two others in the stolen car fled on foot, he said.
The suspect, who was treated at Chino Community Hospital for a broken ankle, was booked into the Pomona Jail and released to the custody of his parents pending arraignment, Sakamoto said.
